Conquering the City

We had a full weekend this past weekend. Geoff was in St. Louis for the week and was supposed to return Friday...but due to plane cancellations he was delayed in San Fran overnight and didn't return until late afternoon Saturday. As soon as he returned I went on a branch expedition with a friend (another post on that later).
Sunday we spent the whole day in the "city". The "city" is an hour and a half away so we try to maximize our time while we are there. We started out at the train park. Quite an impressive place considering it is free and the staff is comprised of all volunteers. There were trains to ride, multiple garden trains to watch and real trains to climb in and explore.
Riding:

The boys are going through a refuse-to-smile-for-the-camera-phase. I think J must be thinking "put the camera away you are interrupting my fun train time."

Then....shopping!
Geoff dropped me off at TJ Maxx while Geoff and the boys ate lunch and went bicycle shopping at Toys 'R Us. We all went to Target, the mall (stop at Starbucks for me), and then more bicycle shopping...back to Toys 'R Us, Costco, a quick stop for me at Old Navy and Michaels, and we picked up pizza for the drive back home. We were exhausted. J's eyes were so heavy all afternoon but he didn't want to miss anything..."Finding Nemo" was playing in the van so he managed to stay awake through the whole movie. Then he crashed. We put him to bed in his clothes.
Then...the boys woke up to new bikes! We used birthday money from Papap and Grandma and let them pick out the bikes they wanted. Geoff put them together last night. It was difficult to get pictures this morning but here are a couple...will have to try to get more pictures of them later.
J with his new bike.....
and helmet...
and W with his new gear...they were really focusing and kept moving and looking down...but here he is.
