...we met Papap and Grandma at the coast. We rented a house at Rockaway Beach last September. It was our last hurrah before school started. The boys were about to start third grade and Avery was about to start her first year of preschool.
Oregon is one of the few states where I am always taking pictures from the car/side of the road.
Our cute house for the week.
The homeowners left a huge plate of tomatoes and cucumbers from their garden and a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. The weather forecast was stormy and overcast most of the days...
...but that will not stop us!
I love how we have the beach to ourselves.
We did get some blue skies.
There was a lot of ski jacket and swimsuit-wearing...at the same time.
Storm coming in.
We went to Cannon Beach and walked around. It is such a cute little coastal town.
We had to see Haystack Rock.
I think I had at least three coffees that day. At three different coffee shops. It was cold-I needed coffee. I think we tried Sea Level Bakery + Coffee, Sleepy Monk Coffee and Insomnia Coffee during the trip.
Back to our beach. The kids can play hours at Rockaway beach and not even ask for food. Hours. The sand looks and feels like brown sugar.
Avery did take a snack break. And helped herself to her own food. Thank you Coleman.
The guys started to build a dam.
I remember it being so cold that afternoon. I was bundled up with a snow hat on and the kids kept playing and playing.
We played lots of games at night before bed...Head's Up, Sequence, Risk, Uno, Blokus...
It was really rainy the next day so we went Tillamook for the cheese factory tour.
Lunch and ice-cream break.
We stopped at another place down the road for their petting zoo.
But not long before the kids want to go back to the house and back to the beach. Grandma and I walked a few miles and the kids went exploring with Geoff.
We drove north again early the next day to try to see some tide pools at Ecola State Park. 
This beach was so incredible. One way you see rock formations...
...behind you there is forest.
And when you look to the ocean there is a lighthouse.
It is so pretty!
Tide came in.
This puppy was in the parking lot. It is a Leonberger. It was one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen. It is a "giant-breed" mix of Newfie, St. Bernard, and Great Pyrenees so she is going to get so big.
Jack was petting him then sat down to wait and the puppy pounced on him.
We drove further into the park to the overlook of the beach we were just at.
Mom and I walked around the shops at Cannon Beach more one day. My favorite shop was Sesame and Lillies.
The best food we had was from Old Oregon Smokehouse. If you aren't looking for it, you will drive right past it because it is tiny and tucked-away. I don't typically like fried food but the halibut and popcorn shrimp were so good. We ate there twice.
