Twins Twins

We recently met a great little family who just moved here who have boy/girl twins. We realized we have actually corresponded on e-mail about five years ago but never met. I am constantly amazed at the small-world connections we find.

We realized that J is very much like little Rylee and W is very much like Bo. W and Bo are more likely to tell or cry when something happens to them, but are also more likely to return toys when asked and just kind of do their own thing. J and Rylee are the little instigators. They are sooo funny. Last week, they literally had a stand off just looking at each other and bopping each other on the heads. I think J liked the challenge. They are the "fighters" and Bo and W are the "lovers".

When they left today after a playdate, Julee called me and said her and the kids were having a conversation about people they loved. Rylee said she loved J and Bo said he loved W. It is amazing how intuitive they are.

Not to mention that W has a crush on Ms. Julee. He constantly says her name and J just did his first-ever blow-a-kiss to her as she left.

Stick A Fork In Me...I'm Done Part 2

J this time....this pic is from a few days ago.  I don't even remember what we did that morning so it must not have been that exciting.  But it wore him out.  I like how Bear is wondering why he is not moving.  She never sees him asleep.

New Development

We put locks on the closet doors.  We put child safety latches on the dressers drawers.  We made sure the rocking chair is pressed against a wall (so it won't flip over).  We remove all toys before naptime and bedtime.  We removed a small step stool from their room...and a hamper.  But it won't stop them from finding something to do or climb on.
Notice that J is on his tippy toes and W is actually on top of the backsplash of the dresser...

They now use their air purifier as a step stool.  They moved it over to their dresser and now like to stand on top of their dresser.  In fact, I witnessed J just pulling himself up onto the dresser without even using the purifier.  You can't stop them from being boys!

K A T Y

Katy...the poor thing.  She and I (and Bear) are currently trying to survive the boys.   =)  She looks so nervous when they are around.  She just kind of flattens her ears down and gets a wild (wild as in scared not wild as in mean wolf) look in her eyes.  She had some trouble with little kids being mean to her when she was a puppy (before we adopted her) so I think that stays with her.  But she and Bear are so good with the boys.  They are very patient and kind even though the boys are not so much to them.   The boys like to push their trucks at them and bop them on their nose.  They get lots of timeouts for this...let me assure you!  They aren't trying to be mean of course, they are just being boys and feeling out the dogs and trying to learn their limits.  W enjoys the dogs.  He likes to get right in their face, gives them hugs and thinks it is fun to sit on their dog bed.   Probably bc I try to keep him off of it...due to his allergies.

Here is W giving Katy a hug...
And getting up and close to her face...
So proud to be on her bed..
Here is her scared look...

Muffin Tray Lunch

I like to use trays to feed the boys. It makes me think of the different food groups and to try to use lots of colorful foods. Well, I saw this great idea on many different blog sites about using muffin trays. Love it....especially since the boys can't do PB, and they won't eat lunch meat or cheese. I have to get creative. This makes me try to think of all the different fruits and vegetables I can use. Of course, they didn't eat the grape tomatoes or carrots but I will keep trying.
Our tray: graham cracker sticks, green and red grapes, grape tomatoes, carrots, cottage cheese and peach medley applesauce.

Out of the Ordinary

I can't believe it. It's been about 12 days since I have gone out with the dogs and the boys on our morning jog/walk. My stroller got a flat and we just got it fixed. I can't believe what a difference it made not having my jogger. We have dogs that crave exercise. Especially Katy. She is just a dog that has to MOVE. If not, all that pent up energy has to go somewhere. And it typically will lead to barking.

So needless to say, I was very excited to get out this morning. It was beautiful out too...overcast but not raining...I was ready to go for a good hour. I make it about 1/3 mile from my house when a cop SUV drives slowly past me. Then I turn onto the main street (which has many vacant houses so it is pretty deserted) and I hear a car approaching behind me. It is a cop car with two right behind him. Uh oh.

He asks me "Have you seen anything out of the ordinary this morning?"
Random question. I told him that I just left my house...and what did he mean by out of the ordinary?
Cop: "Like a bear?"
Me: "Uh no...I am pretty certain I wouldn't be out here jogging still if I saw a bear."
Cop: "Well we have had several calls this morning with a bear siting right around here so you might want to head back home. You should be fine though, you have your dogs."
Me: "Oh, so the bear can just eat my dogs?" =)

Anyway, so our outing was cut short. I just hope they find the bear before it can get into trouble. And I hope the cops handle it appropriately.

I definetly wasn't worried about "bears" when I left my house this morning. I was just worried about when my Bear (the dog) was going to poop during our run.

Giddy-YAP

I put W on one of those automated horses at the store. J had been on the same one before and had fun. I guess I should have warned W that it was going to move. I put the quarters in and he jumped a mile when it started and reached to grab for anything to hold on to. I didn't get the camera on until just after that...and you can see from the video...he just does not know what to think. He has pure fear in his eyes...he manages a tiny smile in the middle...but just after this video he wanted OFF. Even before the time had run out. I asked J if he wanted to ride the horse and he said "nooo-oooo."
